A hagyományoknak megfelelően ebben a pavilonban kapnak kiemelt helyet a szakmai szervezetek is.

Information for exhibitors

The 80th edition of the biggest agribusiness fair of the Carpathian Basin, the National Agriculture and Food Industry Exhibition and Fair (OMÉK) is ready to open its gates this year. It has a history reaching back to 190 years; it was initiated by Count István Széchenyi in 1829 and the first editions were exhibitions of farm animals. The original idea of Széchenyi was to provide an opportunity to strengthen the ties between merchants and customers, and to contribute to the development of an agrarian economy that was well equipped to face the challenges of modern times. He believed it was fertile land that made nations great. The foundations to build upon were strong. For centuries Hungarian food products and crops were seen as representing outstanding quality even by international standards. OMÉK has also contributed to the worldwide recognition enjoyed by Hungarian products today by providing a first class opportunity to farmers and producers to successfully present their commodities and produce to a wide audience coming from abroad and home.

OMÉK has deep roots in the past but its eyes are set on the future. Its mission is to popularize the achievements of 21st century agriculture while helping to preserve and showcase traditional values.

The goal of OMÉK is to introduce the players in agriculture and the food industry, to present healthy, sustainable and GMO-free products, to provide a professional forum for industrial players, where they can discuss the current issues of agribusiness.

It is one of the major tasks of OMÉK to contribute to the education of the coming generations and to popularize the agricultural industry, to draw the public’s attention to the inherent diversity of the agro-food industry and to underline the importance of conscious consumer behaviour.

Pavilion E „Trade”

Pavilion E is where domestic and foreign farmers, producers, traders, distributors and retail chains active in food industry and agriculture can present their products and services. Following established traditions this is also the pavilion where you will find trade organizations represented. The professional projects of the Ministry of Agriculture and their results are presented in an interactive way. The main emphasis is on irrigation infrastructure development, national forestation and rural development.

Guests interested in the outstanding Hungarian wines should head to the square of wine seminars in Pavilion E where they can deepen their understanding of the country’s wines by attending guided tastings and presentations, needless to say, by adhering to the rules of civilized alcohol consumption.

Pavilion B „Small-scale producers”

The stall called „Hungarikumok” awaits attendees with interactive sessions and special events aimed at offering insight into the world of Hungarikums and national assets, such as Gyulai sausage and pálinka. The list of events includes Kalocsai painting, falconry show, operette show and carving Busó masks.

Visitors should also check out the small producers’ fair and craftsmanship show called „The Treasures of the Carpathian Basin” where they can buy products from farmers and craftsmen coming from Hungary and the neighbouring countries.

In Pavilion B „The Island of Children” awaits infants with puppet shows, concerts and a comfortable resting area.

The Indigenous Courtyard

The indigenous courtyard is primarily aimed at the inhabitants of the capital city – especially children – and it offers an insight into the lives of the multitude of different species and breeds of farm animals native to Hungary including some protected breeds.
